The small-cap gained over 10% in July, compared to a jump of 9.1% for the S&P 500. It is the biggest percentage-point outperformance since February this year. Despite the July rebound, the Russell 2000 has dropped by around 16% this year, compared to an over 13% drop for the S&P 500. 5. Seritage Growth Properties (129%)

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in New York City, Seritage Growth Properties (NYSE:) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that deals in retail properties throughout the United States. Its shares are up by almost 1% year-to-date and up almost 66% in the last three months. As of this writing, the shares are trading at over $13 (52-week range of $4.90 to $17.12), giving it a market capitalization of more than $900 million.

4. Velo3D (136%)

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Campbell, Calif, Velo3D (NYSE:) company develops and makes metal laser sintering printing machines for 3D printing. Its shares are down by almost 45% year-to-date but are up by almost 76% in the last three months.
