Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:), which rose 9.71% or 0.85 points to trade at 9.60 at the close. New Gold Inc (TSX:) added 8.79% or 0.08 points to end at 0.99 and Shopify Inc (TSX:) was up 8.32% or 3.48 points to 45.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Corus Entertainment Inc (TSX:), which lost 11.73% or 0.42 points to trade at 3.16 in late trade. Enghouse Systems Ltd (TSX:) declined 9.95% or 3.27 points to end at 29.61 and Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TSX:) shed 3.00% or 1.26 points to 40.73.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 728 to 270 and 97 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 19.60% to 15.75 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 6.85 to $1,727.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.27% or 2.73 to hit $86.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.58% or 3.19 to trade at $92.34 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.54% to 0.77, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.07% to 0.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 108.97.
