According to The Information, Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:) is planning to drastically scale back its shopping features on Instagram, as it shifts the focus of its e-commerce efforts to those that directly support ad revenue.
According to the company’s internal memo on Tuesday, Instagram’s existing shopping page will disappear, and the company will test a simpler and less personalized version of the shopping page (known internally as Tab Lite) over the next few months.
The change shows how the company is moving away from some long-term projects as it focuses on building its short-form video business.
