Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the gained 1.19%, while the index added 1.53%, and the index added 2.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:), which rose 3.63% or 5.69 points to trade at 162.59 at the close. Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:) added 3.46% or 6.34 points to end at 189.49 and 3M Company (NYSE:) was up 3.21% or 3.83 points to 123.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:), which lost 0.29% or 1.52 points to trade at 524.34 in late trade. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) declined 0.22% or 0.36 points to end at 164.15 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:) shed 0.22% or 0.56 points to 259.52.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 8.60% to 19.33, Kroger Company (NYSE:) which was up 7.40% to settle at 51.94 and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 5.97% to close at 127.78.
The worst performers were Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.69% to 305.70 in late trade, NortonLifeLock Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 2.82% to settle at 22.73 and Humana Inc (NYSE:) which was down 1.62% to 478.50 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were GeoVax Labs Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 50.46% to 1.64, Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 37.00% to settle at 0.19 and American Virtual Cloud Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 31.09% to close at 0.22.
The worst performers were Immunocore Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 22.09% to 44.75 in late trade, Troika Media Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 16.42% to settle at 0.40 and Advanced Human Imaging Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which was down 15.49% to 0.81 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2654 to 506 and 115 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2715 rose and 1052 declined, while 213 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.47% to 22.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 6.85 to $1,727.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.27% or 2.73 to hit $86.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.58% or 3.19 to trade at $92.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.00, while USD/JPY fell 1.00% to 142.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 108.97.
